Hollis McClard spent the weekend of March 4 - 6 in Lebanon playing checkers
against some of the nation's best checkers players. They were all playing in the
Tennessee State Tournament.

Unfortunately, he didn't win the competition but he had a good time and enjoyed
seeing old friends.
The Tennessee tournament is one of the toughest I've played in. We had over 50
people there this year from many different states, McClard said.
One of the people McClard played against this year is Kim Willis from Eldon, Mo.
Willis has been playing competitively for 11 years. She has played in
tournaments in Missouri, Tennessee, Illinois, Ohio, North Carolina, South
Carolina, Las Vegas, Ireland, and China.
She has placed in several events including getting third in the World GAYP and
fourth in the World 3 - Move.
Along with playing in tournaments, she teaches checkers to fourth and fifth
grade students in her hometown.
I had never played against her before but I beat her each time, McClard added.
McClard will be playing next in the Southern States tournament that will be held
in July in Lebanon.
